That's Dan's (Siren1000T)'s video, what a great recording.

I think the rotator could be set on 10RPM? How in the world would you change the rotator speed on a 500AT? I always thought the rotation speed was permanently set.

lol :P . Looks like someone had some fun fixing up this siren a bit and made it spin faster. Is the 500AT belt or direct driven for rotation?

Someone in the comments section suggested that when this siren was recently refurbished, that the gears in the rotator may have been changed out. This is the fastest I've ever heard a siren rotate.

Change the pulleys on the rotator motor or gear reducer.

This 500AT when it was first installed, only rotated at 3 RPM in alert and attack modes. When it was rebuilt, I have a very strong feeling that the gear reducer was changed, which subsequently changed it's RPM. Nonetheless, this is a great video.

I can clearly remember the old 16-port Sterling siren that was atop the fire station, running in unison with this siren back in 1970-71. It made for the eeriest sound you ever heard in your life. This was before the Dundee Twp. FD purchased their pagers, so the two sirens ran at all hours of the night for fire and rescue calls.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

I have never seen a 500AT spin so fast. There must be like a gyroscope effect from the rotor of the siren though.
