I found a Tempest T-121 today

Thu Jul 10, 2008 11:31 pm

Earlier today i saw Tempest T-121 in Magna at the Kennocot Copper Mine. I will try to get pictures of it later today.

Also i saw somethng that appeared to be a Hurricane. It was on top of a small building in West Valley. Has anybody ever seen one painted grey? I'll try to get a picture of that too.

The only colors that we've seen Hurricane's are Caterpillar yellow and very dark brown. Good job on finding that T-121, there not very common.

Ok. I was only guessing at it from behind so it could have been a number of things. But when I saw it I recognized it as one.

Thanks, there is another one at the SLC airport. I'm not sure if either of them work. But I would expect Kennocot to have a working one, there's a lot of chemicals and heavy machinery there, and it's pretty big.

There used to be a GREEN one in GREENDALE Wisconsin.

If you can get a picture of that Hurricane siren, that'd be pretty cool. :) :)

If true, that would be the only Hurricane out west known.

Painting a siren is not that big a deal for whoever owns it. Color switches go on.

There are a few T-121's in the CANS/CAER system in Contra Costa Co. CA.

I just checked Google Maps. The Provo Tbolt is still there at the Fire Dept. 100 So. 300 W.

I've only ever seen one T-121 and that was in Marked Tree, AR while driving along the interstate. It's a nice looking siren, one of the better looking omni-directional sirens available today.

That would be really cool. Why are they so uncommon though?

And if you want to look on Google Maps for it, find the Kohls in West Valley, then follow the road north that is front of it. There will be a stop light a little bit up the road, from there turn left onto Interstate 201 I belive. While following that it shouldn't be very far. The highway goes east and it is just south of the highway.

There are probably a few more T-121's around here, but I haven't seen any other sirens so far in Salt Lake City.
