T-bolt(s) at the Titan missile site in Tucson, AZ

Sat Aug 04, 2007 6:05 pm

I was watching an episode of Huell Howser on PBS this morning, and he was at the former Titan missile installation in Tucson, AZ. Now a museum, the place was left pretty much intact and has been restored and opened to the public for tours. When they showed the above-ground area, there's a big, shiny restored Thunderbolt near the silo doors, and maybe more sirens in the background. The photo is bad since it's taken off the TV tube with all kinds of reflections from the windows, but you can kind of see the T-bolt in the background in the upper right corner.

Has anyone been there? I want to go ASAP, but not sure when I can go...

Charles

Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)

Yup. They have a 1003 in great condition there. Not sure if it's sounded still or not, but from pix I've seen on the net, it looks good.

I was told by a friend of mine who lives in Tucson that they have all been removed.. I am not positive of that though...

If you scroll down to the fourth picture there is a clear view of the Thunderbolt on the right side of the photo
