Irving EOWS 612 Replacement on Google Earth

Thu May 24, 2018 6:34 pm

I decided to check out Irving's remaining EOWS 612s on Google Earth, and I happened to find what looked to be a brand-new 508 on the latest satellite image (dated March 19, 2018). This was an ongoing replacement of the original EOWS 612 that was here. Sucks to see another EOWS bite the dust.

This was located near the intersection of Valley View Lane and County Line Road.

Aww shucks. I was going to check that one out. Hopefully the one off of Twin Wells Golf Course is still there

Weird how they are replacing a electronic siren with a electromechanical siren. I wonder why alot of EOWS sirens don't get replaced with like Mods or Whelens.

Probably because the faults some SiraTone controllers developed drove the maintainer away from getting any new electronic siren.

Except all of Irving's EOWS had UV's/MCP I believe.

Correct. I am not sure if any units in recent years had the legacy SiraTone controllers on them. I think that they were all upgraded at some point. The 612s in Denton were the only legacy units I remember. I think Coppell's had the smaller boxes, but were MCP inside. They put up Modulators and 612's with the original install, so I am thinking they all were MCP.

If they had smaller boxes, they may have been MCs.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
