Where is the last remaining unit in Yonkers?

There also might be another one in the downtown area I found earlier this year.
looks like the motor is exposed to the elements...

One can only wonder what the inside of the rotator looks like. I could imagine it being a belt driven system similar to a thunderbolt setup but a much more powerful motor to turn the heavy siren head.

Wow Storey County has 2? I thought the only one was on top of the Lockwood fire station!
The other one is on a rural FD to the north of Virginia City.

What ended up happening to the one in Charlotte?

Also, you NE siren guys should try obtaining those 550-ATs
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.

Bumping an old thread here, but I have some news. The 550 in Yonkers on the school was removed in the last few years according to Google. AFAIK, the remaining units are:

Yonkers, NY - 1 unit
Calhan, CO - 1 unit
Sugar City, CO - 1 unit
Storey Co., NV - 2 units
Do you have a street view link to the one on the school?
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.

The Charlotte 550AT was removed in late 2013 due to roof renovations, most likely scrapped. I'm planning on calling Yonkers public works soon.

Bit of a bump, Brendan W found another 500-DHTT at a high school while we were hunting for sirens in Yonkers, NY
https://goo.gl/maps/TCDjAWbucvP2

History about their Civil Defense System:
Sometime around 1942 Yonkers had purchased 29 2-horsepower sirens and placed them throughout the city and atop schools. They noticed having coverage gaps in 1957 around places in the city. Around 1958, they got a contract with Herbert G Martin to install 15 20-Horsepower sirens to eliminate the coverage gaps.
Over the next year they would install the 500s on galvanized steel towers, at schools, on top of buildings etc.
They discontinued Civil Defense siren testing around 1976.

Special thanks to Brendan W.
I will add more to this post when I find more post worthy information.

Edit 5/5/18: I took pictures of both the Untermyer Park 500-DHTT and the one at Gorton High School, the pictures are on the Facebook group and my Flickr.
