Sirens in China

Fri Oct 20, 2017 2:47 am

Hello. Does anybody know of any installations/photos of sirens in China? I know that Lion King is in China, but i'm not sure if they have very many installations there. As far as I know i've only seen one photo which was on an early post on here. Thank you for any replies.

Doesn't Taiwan count as a part of China?
Seen a: KM Europ, small Klaxon siren and a Gents' of Leicester "ahooga" horn.

There are plenty of videos of Chinese sirens showing how they're mounted, and to be fair, I think they use whatever tall and straight thing they can find to mount their sirens on as I haven't found two of the same installations anywhere.

Taiwan is its own state.

Well, that depends on if you ask since the PRC and ROC both hold claims that they are the one and only true China. Anyways, to get back on topic I have not been able to find many Chinese siren installs however I have found some audio clips of sirens from around the region.

Siren test in Shenzhen, China. I would have to guess that these might be Lion King sirens.

Siren test in Jinan, China. It might be my ears playing tricks, but I believe that there are electronic sirens in the mix

As for Taiwan, I found this audio clip. The sirens are definitely mechanical and seem to be Cyclones from what I have heard

Regarding installs, I found this image from the Beijing system. I am unsure of who makes these sirens.

Here is a mobile install using the Lionking Defender siren on a truck, I can't tell if it is mounted to the truck or being transported.

A WW2 era install, unsure of location or model of siren.

Another Beijing install, there does not seem to be much consistency in the model/installation method (aside from all being roof mounted).

Finally, while not an install I did find this Chinese siren design rather interesting...

I hope that this could be of some assistance, I am always intrigued with foreign installs especially those in countries that I am less familiar with (I.E. outside of North America and parts of Western Europe). I can't wait to see if any more installs show up soon!

The Shenzhen sirens almost sound like they could be LK's take on the Model 2. They sound dead on to a 2 to me.

I do remember years ago Robert Gift posted about sirens in Yantai, China.
24, and not dead yet.

Taiwan's sirens are definitely Cyclones, but they seem to be phasing them out with Hörmann ECN's or something of the like.

Speaking of Taiwanese Cyclones, here's one I found on my trip last week. And I already miss Taiwan...

I noticed that the motor is on the bottom, leaving me to wonder where the air goes in.
Are these official ACA Cyclones, or well-made Taiwanese clones?

If I'm not mistaken those Cyclones are completely inverted from the ones in the US. They are 8 port dominant. The 8 port side of the chopper is the closest to the intake. I think they are clones of the original. Apparently ASC still makes them and has shipped a few that way not too long ago.
