Let's backpedal a little bit, back to August. I called the city of Gainesville asking if they're testing their siren system. They said they are not testing due to malfunction and the city is waiting for the council to make a decision.
So now to today. I called again, and they replied saying that they will be abandoning their sirens within the next few years. The 3-4 sirens that still work will be activated, but the rest will remain silent until the city council decides whether to remove them. I'm assuming the old T-135AC is one that is non-active.
Instead, the city is looking for new technology such as reverse 9-11 and CodeRed.
