I believe the old sirens were scrapped, but a few of the ACA's are abandoned in place.

The old sirens were pulled down and sold off by the installation company, TMI didn't have a need for them and was willing to accept whatever the company offered them. My whole family was affiliated with TMI and I have plenty of friends, I was offered to purchase one of the old TMI sirens but here is the thing... what in the heck was I going to do with a Cyclone? So I declined, they wouldn't sell me a 2001 which is what I wanted to purchase... I am sure the installation company already had those earmarked for another project. I refuse to give what the going rate was, but suffice it to say they could make a show called "Flipping Sirens". I will find out what will go on with the new siren system as well, I am very sure they will be sold off and used by other places... they invested way to much money into them to just let them rot on the pole.

How much were they asking for them if you don't mind? Just curious.

The controllers for the old ones went on eBay. I believe there were 5 of them on there, I was able to get one before they quickly sold, didn't even know it was from TMI until it came in the mail! :)

Wow and they installed a new fleet of T-128's not too long ago. What a waste.
Indeed, it is a waste. Another is the point they were qute effective in 1979 when the disaster took place, no deaths resulted because the warning system worked.

They weren't installed until after the accident. Actually it was that accident that required nuclear power plants to have warning systems.

Someone did set off the civil defence alarm though around TMI which, I assume, aided the alerting of the people and contributing to their evacuation.

I believe you're right about that.

I've never seen a video from the 1979 accident with sirens. Only patrol cars using their PA's to alert residents.

It's in the documentary about the accident. Here's the video:
