Federal Electric Model B Restoration.

Sun Oct 30, 2016 12:30 am

I acquired a Model B Siren in July, and the wiring on the motor is something I never seen before.

It is a General Electric made motor and here are the specs.

5HP.
220V.
60 cycles.
3 phase.
Serial: ?
Made: ?

And the thing that is strange is that it has only 3 main wires. Why does it only have 3 main wires?

Reply to me if you have any idea why.

More info on the way!

The tag says its 3 phase. That's why there are 3 wires. 3 phase - 1 wire for each phase. Its only 220 volts so it must only be wired for 220 and thats why there arent the multiple wires to allow it to also be wired for high voltage. Thats my 2 cents worth.
