Stephenville TX Siren Test Malfunction Ambience

Wed Nov 18, 2015 6:55 pm

What a surprise it was this morning! Around 8am the cities sirens sounded
longer than usual (or they weren't suppose to sound at all)
and some sirens ran in different modes. My brother just happened to hear the siren while
at work and stepped outside with his phone and took this video.

The P-50 is about half mile from him at his workplace and you can hear multiple Thunderbeams. I have no
idea why the P-50 shuts off early, it may be how the city has it set up im guessing.
There is a hiccup around 1:30 where it sounds like the sirens get re-activated.
Listen closely around 2 minutes you can hear a Thunderbeam sounding a short attack mode but
it doesn't sound quite right.

UPDATE:
According to a source from the police department, the console to set off the sirens was malfunctioning and they
were trying to turn them off manually after the test was concluded. They managed to shut off the P-50 sperately but
the others kept sounding. After a few minutes they were able to shut them off once the console rebooted.
The re-activations were their attempts to shut them off manually but for some reason they turned back on.

Nice. I was doing training at AMR HDQ today and noticed Fort Worth ran the full siren test today. Thinking that probably had something to do with their surprise TOR Tuesday morning....

Wonder why they are testing? It's not the 1st Wednesday?

If you are referring to Fort Worth, they test weekly on Wednesdays and the test is like 15 seconds long. On the first Wednesday they run the full test. As far as Stephenville, I have no idea what their testing schedule even is.

Then you should just call the EMA! :P
I own: One complete SiraTone, another SiraTone control module, a 1600W MC, 2 old ATI controllers, 2 round ATI horns with drivers, a ATI-DSA 4 thing, a Federal Signal FC, AR timer and Siratrol, and a small CD&F.

Interesting. I thought all of Texas only tested on the 1st Wednesday of each month?

speaking of sick sounding thunderbeams here is one from the west side of town
by the watertower, i recall watching this stream when the storm chasers (SVRHD.COM) parked
underneath a thunderbeam watching a storm coming from Dublin. I was quite
amazed to find that moment in time recorded by someone else just at that point in
time when the siren starts sounding. It doesn't sound so good. It didn't wind
up much at all. Just so you know i was watching the same stream when they started
sounding i it really did sound like that in the stream, even though the stream had very
good audio quality.

It sounds horrible, almost as if it was running on 120V. I think I should discuss further via PM.
