The most unique "New Year's" blast you'll ever hear

Fri Aug 07, 2015 12:08 am

So I know a while ago someone posted a video of one of Japan's mechanical sirens that has dampers and solenoids to do music... Well, I'm pretty sure they beat us to the point of what we would all do with it around new years time. (Also my first `post post` in a while! :o)

Also in case anyone's interested, here's more videos of it:

You can probably find some more in the related videos or on his channel.

Those harmonies never disappoint me. Apparently they have more than 1 singing siren...

No its the same siren. Just in the first one you can't see the building.

I feel pretty sure he's referencing to another "musical" siren setup in Japan that fell into disrepair and ceased being used since it no longer functioned properly. That one was posted long ago on the boards, but the original recording(s) of it were made even longer ago than the posts were. I'll see if I can find the original topic on that unit and/or the video of it and post it here.

On another note, I wonder if just maybe this one is that very same unit that someone removed and restored back to functionality again. Seems like we would have run across this one much earlier if it is a different setup, though I may have simply missed it all along.

EDIT: Here is the original post I was referencing above, which even includes photos of the siren setup and its pneumatic controls.

Also: since the link in the OP seems to no longer work, here is the file in .mp3 format.

Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.

Ah, I completely forgot about that one! I guess that makes three musical sirens in Japan, at least that I'm aware of that is.

Man, all of these japanese musical sirens... Do you think these sirens would be used if there was some kind of disaster?

The broken down one was still cool to see though!! Is it a system of chopper, stator and turning disk on the top exposing then covering the ports?
