Branson, Mo siren ambiance

Sat Nov 01, 2014 4:45 pm

I was browsing youtube and came across this video that has a really good ambiance of the mod 6048 at the Rec-Plex, and the SD-10 about a mile or so away. Sirens start at 32 seconds. You can hear one of the whelens finished its voice announcement and you can hear the DTMF tones going out.

An SD-10, 2 Mod 6048's and a bunch of old whelen 2705's. I belive there are several thunderbolts out in rural Taney county.

Something about that whelen sounding off almost has an additional octave to it, but that appears to be the reverb. Impressive.

As for Branson's Siren System, they have a hodge podge of SD10's, whelen 2xxx series, and a few modulators. A few mods can be seen from the main north-south highway off in the distance on top of hills during the fall, fairly sure i've said that years past on here. :)

Yeah, I went to the downtown SD-10 a couple days ago, and i found out it had Been replaced. I don't think this is new news, because I checked and it was removed sometime between 2010 and 2011. Weird thing is, is that it was replaced with a 2750. I have a feeling that they swapped siren locations so they could have battery backup in downtown.

In the first video, could the DTMF tones be coming from the modulator? It sounds like the voice messages and alert signal are coming form the same siren to me.

It's unlikely they swapped. They either moved one or got a used one. That SD-10 was dead. There was a news article about that a few years back. I'll see if I can dig it up.
