Re: Tornado Warning procedures in schools

At my elementary school they used the fire alarm. Steady = Fire, Pulsed = Tornado. I always hated their fire system, because its one of the old ones that were a really loud buzzer.

At my school they play the recording below of an SD-10 in attack mode over the intercom.

We just just seek shelter in the hallway and listen to the 4RPM SRN right outside the school make it's rotations along with a beeping tone they play over the intercom. That "stupid siren" all the kids at my school complain about on test day just may save their butts one day.

When I was in grade school, everyone goes to basement when the 3T22 sounds the ALERT (steady) tone
During Jr High & Sr High the Federal EIWS (Electronic Indoor Warning Siren) sounds the Alternating Steady tone; & the Thunderbolts & xT22 sound the ALERT (steady) tone. Unfortunately no basement in Sr High

The EIWS (my guess is its just a SiraTone?) is connected to the PA/intercom system

Same thing at my elementary school. Loud and annoying as hell when your crouched up in the hallway. :x

At Drumright High School I just annonce take your tornado precautions. The other schools do the same. Everyone at the HS for the last drill complained that it was not scary so for our next drill they get to here a 2t22A in alert!
