I always found this weird Gents, and just about any siren with odd port ratios (like the HOR Super Sirex) to be pretty chilling.

I completely agree with the ambiance statements. To me a siren alone is nowhere near as scary as when it "collaborates" with others. That being said, a healthy 9/12 port siren (e.g. 500AT, Allertor, P-15) sounding F/C gets my vote for scariest on its own. Probably because I grew up near a 500AT.

My favorite ambiance combinations would be one or more 5/6 port Thunderbolts on chopper setting 5 along with one or more 2001-130s. T-128s sound great with T-Bolts too, like in this video. Doesn't that sound musical?

I forget what sirens are in this one aside from Whelens, but damn it sounds beautiful.

When RM-130s are given a little more juice and hit an E-flat, they sound great with anything. Here is one such example with very high-pitched 2001s, combining to create a perfect fourth. You know, they sound great on their own too, especially from a distance with some echos off buildings.

I'd say a P50 or 7/10 HOR in attack. Other than that, a siren with an 8/9 ratio would be really scary... imagine a gigantic, low-pitch Federal 76.

In attack with a good echo, any single-tone siren really sounds good.

Honorable mentions to 7/10 HORs for the tone and to Thunderbolt 1000Ts for their metallic ring.

This thing. Imagine about 4 of those sounding off in a valley.

For me just about any siren running in attack sounds creepy. It is the sound of the wind up, peak, then wind down that gives urgency to the sound. Alert is so generic.

That sounds pretty scary, terrifying I imagine in the pitch black!

Because of WW2, even though my parents weren't even alive at the time, the Carter/Gents sirens are top of the list for me. But also I live close to Portsmouth UK, so if we ever hear this siren outside of the times which the MoD announce are tests, it's time to live out your last day as a healthy/alive person!

However, I have two favourites from over the pond:

This 1000T was the first Thunderbolt I found on Youtube and it creeped me out a fair bit!

There's this T-128, which a number of comments believe the batteries are dying as it does sound a lot lower pitched than a normal T-128:

As previously said, I think the echo on wind-down adds a LOT to the creep-factor of a siren. Even the wind-ups can sound menacing at times.

And normally I don't like electronic sirens, but this (Modulator?) sounds pretty scary, especially considering what it's warning for:

That is a Whelen WPS 2X06. The "X" could be a 7,8,9, or 10 dependeing on the model.

Okay, heres some creepy-a** sirens for ya:

KTG-9 Utzenstorf: http://youtu.be/IZFENE83ARo?hd=1

Everybody forgot about these - creepiest sirens! You for sure wont mistake this sound for anything else!

HOR in Alert: http://youtu.be/LU2hLgYva6U

I wish there was a real one of these going off in Attack.

Dillon's Mod vid with a 'spleshial tone': http://youtu.be/NsbTKe9sa7I?hd=1

It just has an eerie sound to it - what I wouldnt give to hear it in Attack!

A P-50 in Alert - LOUD!: http://youtu.be/JuC85eZ2Xxw

This guy must've been pretty near the siren. The fact that it's a tornado warning, makes the siren all the creepier!

Klaxon CS Siren: http://youtu.be/dByjdhWMBGQ

This is in New Zealand... Not sure what it is, but the tone is just a bit on the creepy side.

Tornado Sirens in Chicago: http://youtu.be/Yy_oX6SURRE

Alternating Wail is my fave tone for Mods/DSAs, but it is a creepy tone - especially during an actual warning.
Viva la Thunderbolt!
