Measuring DB output

Thu Dec 29, 2016 8:16 am

I've installed the Gethru XA600 siren amplifier. The unit has two 200W channels.
http://www.gethru.com/2.html
The manufacturer indicates 120db output. He measured the db output with two 100w speakers.
I've installed only one quality 200w speaker and measured the db output using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... dmeter.app
I had no choice but to install the speaker behind the front bumper facing down.
I've measured 92db less than 1 meter from the speaker.
I'd appreciate if you could help be sort out a few things::
1. Is there a better way to measure the db output with no professional expensive equipment?
2. Is it possible that I need two speakers to output the whole 120db?
3. How bad is to install the speaker facing down and not forward?
