Have vehicle sirens change since the 70s?

Mon Feb 15, 2016 2:11 am

I was wondering how the sound levels of vehicle sirens have changed since the 1970s. Are they essentially the same? The only difference being the different siren wails and newer technology to make them more reliable?

Well the Federal Signal Q siren has changed a lot since when it first was introduced. It originally was an electro-mechanical siren, but Federal has made the EQ2B siren, which is an electronic version of the Q, but pulls less amps when used.
