Is this a better photo of that mystery chicago siren

Tue Nov 23, 2010 5:04 am

Found this on-line today
Is this that Super Federal siren?
I am speechless.
Sure looks like hearing protection was a last minuet suggestion.

Is that even a siren? Looking at the truck it's on, I get the idea those may be something other than choppers.

This looks completely different than the other siren that was pictured. The previous photo, showed a siren that had a round projector, much like a gigantic version of a Model 500 but significantly larger in diameter. The siren in this photo I have never seen before, but I will bet you its a prototype of some sort, but I wonder who manufactured it? Somehow, I seem to believe this is a Federal Engineering product.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

I am offended that you would suggest such a thing.

Here's the link to the auction.

If it's not a siren (or some other loud noisemaker for that matter) then why would all those people be holding their ears?

Those look like some large rotors, too! They look to be about 25 inches tall.

Because machines that large are always ridiculously loud  Nah, it's probably a siren; I think I can barely make out stator holes on the top rotor. Also, the guy on the far left walking by doesn't seem bothered at all (!).
