I have a page up on my site about his siren with a series of pics he sent to me.

What is wrong with the blower?Crazywarriorman wrote:Hi guys,
I'm still here, and I still have the siren. For the first time in 3 years it's all in one place. I've asked for some quotes for painting the siren around here, since I simply don't have the time anymore, and haven't received anything back. I have an ungodly busy semester this year, but next year when it starts to warm up I'll definitely be starting to work on it and hopefully have it finished.
Well at least it isn't totaled. When you do get to completely fixing it what will you do with it then? I think it is too historically significant to install somewhere and risk a tornado destroying it.Crazywarriorman wrote:I guess at some point in its life on that tower it got struck by lightning directly. That lightning caused the telephone relay , which controls the siren, to switch on and off rapidly which thus had the same effect on the motor starter and pitted out the contact points.
With that being said, the motor stater and motor are in good shape. The blower needs the oil changed and the controls behind the starter are probably all going to get ripped out and replaced with solid state controls. The pipe needs redone as well.
No, I hear it has some slow 5400RPM hard drives.coastalsyrolover wrote:If not solid state what is it running now? Tubes? (Guitar joke...)
Damn I just want a video of it working lolCrazywarriorman wrote:It's going to be mounted on a trailer in a thunderbolt style shipping configuration.
Patience my friend, it got me to Williams County for a siren test this month, and I've been wanting to go since last summer.Vey198885 wrote:Damn I just want a video of it working lolCrazywarriorman wrote:It's going to be mounted on a trailer in a thunderbolt style shipping configuration.
