From Strongsville, Ohio, they have these (photos are not mine and are from a newspaper):

Strongsville apparently tried a city-wide siren system years ago which was unsuccessful, so it was removed. Since, they have been looking for alternatives and have installed these custom-looking solar powered electronic sirens at large parks throughout the city (since the primary point of warning people is outdoors and these are highly populated outdoors during the summer), these mystery sirens were placed at the parks to warn people at the parks of weather hazards. They are apparently tested weekly at 11:15 am, in the summer months, weather-permitting. They are not tested during the winter. According to the article, they supposedly sound a tone and voice message.

I think that’s either a LAWS system or maybe DSA/1004 with custom controls. That being said, you should try to snag a recording when they test to see what they sound like. That would help identify them.

Ah yes, I remember reading that article and mapping those sirens a while back.

Likely some sort of custom job, similar to Custer Electric over in Indiana. Definitely not a DSA or LAWS.

I had a feeling since most places in Cuyahoga County or the Cleveland metro in general don't have sirens, not since 1972 when the CD system was mostly scrapped (and those that do are strictly name brands like Federal or if you're Brecksville you have a couple ASC units in the mix as well). I've gotta get a recording of them sometime. I can't get out there till at least June however, as school doesn't let out till May 31.

Look at the logo in the center of the horn. It's some Altec Lansing type horn.
