Update on the sick Allertor in Philomont, VA

Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:47 pm

I have a few videos of that siren, and I just wanted to give a bit of an update on it. The last time I heard it in person was August 2015 (I have a video of that), and my understanding is that since then they have lessened the use of it somewhat. They now have career people at the station 24 hours, whom they rely on before the volunteers. Therefore, the siren is only set off when they need the volunteers, and that is not every call. The siren still sounds exactly the same, not any worse or better. Now there is talk that they might stop using it completely at some point in the not too distant future. If they end up taking it down, I hope I could save it.
