Dodge City Kansas Sirens

Mon Nov 20, 2017 4:20 am

After the tornadoes that impacted the Dodge City area on May 24, 2016, I found myself wondering where Dodge City's sirens were. I found a Google Map with Western Kansas's Sirens, yet it only showed me three sirens. Upon watching videos of chasers driving through Dodge City during the tornado event, I could hear there were definitely more than just three sirens.
I know I am based out of Colorado, yet I still wanted to know what Dodge City's system consisted of. After 2 days of searching throughout the city, I found their siren system.
Dodge City's siren system consists of 10 sirens throughout the city (that I'm aware of). The old system consisted of Federal Signal Thunderbolts and some other Federal Signal models. However, since the city updated their system, most of their sirens are now Federal Signal 2001-130's, but there's a couple exceptions. Here are the locations & models of the sirens:
1. W Beeson Rd & Lulu Ave (2001-130) *former Thunderbolt 1000*
2. McArtor Rd & Sunnyside Ave (2001-130) *former Thunderbolt 1000*
3. north of Wright Ave & Diane Dr (2001-130) *former STH-10*
4. 2399 W Frontview St *south of Dodge City High School* (2001-130) *former Thunderbolt 1000*
5. Burr Pkwy & W Comanche St (STH-10) *original siren*
6. 601 4th Ave (2001-SRN) *original siren*
7. Central Ave & W La Mesa Dr *by the water tower* (2001-130) *former Thunderbolt 1000*
8. Avenue A & Plains St (2001-130) *former Thunderbolt 1000*
9. Avenue L & Roosevelt Ave (2001-130) *former FS Model 5*
10. E Trail St & Prairie Rd (STH-10) *original siren*

I hope this helps anyone who is curious about Dodge City's Siren System. If I've missed any, please leave a comment.
