Mon Sep 04, 2017 1:04 am

I found something interesting not too long go....

It is the only Thunderbolt in the entire State Of Maine! Im not sure if it is operational and it's very rusty, but here it is on Google Maps:

I thought there were at least two more? I seem to recall some town I believe near the Canadian border having one. I could be confused however.

I believe you might be thinking about the Model 2 in St Francis, or the Whelen 3016 in Madawaska. I checked the Maine map, and Portland was the only place with a Thunderbolt. There are 3 more sirens in Portland according to an old news article, but they're not listed on the Maine map. Who knows, it be cool if they were Thunderbolts too!

That Thunderbolt has been in the same place since at least 2003. Someone should try and fetch it off the roof. :D

There is a Model A in front of one of the FD's if I am not mistaken in Portland.

But that is only to clear traffic. There are three other air raid sirens in the area, i just don't know where.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a Jailbar grille, judging from this angle in Street View https://www.google.com/maps/@43.6564232 ... 312!8i6656
