That screamer you found is likely an old Crystal River siren. There is one at Citrus Springs VFD.

With Inverness being very close to Crystal River, its a high chance, but it also could have been used for fire calls as well. What I am seriously wondering is how many of these fire sirens are still in use. Especially with the closest one I have found being a mere 30 minute drive away, But many of these fire departments are titled "volunteer", so that is a good sign. Just going to have to plan a trip and see, or a research spree. :P

Just came to my mind, IIRC, Didn't I read somewhere that the old Crystal River System was Sentrys? I had also found one of them I believe but I could not re-locate after loosing the post sadly. I will maybe try to look for it now.

Crystal River was Screamers, Allertors, and Hurricanes. I have pictures from when the original system went in.

Glad to have confirmation on the St. Pete T-Bolt!

Florida is a very anti-siren state. Those sirens will scare the elderly, don't you know!

Bump but found some an interesting news article on that Mobil-Directo in Palatka from 1966, However said "tarped-over" siren is just an antennae I'm 90% sure . But here is said article! https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid= ... 3525&hl=en

I think its quite funny they named the siren "Big Bertha"! :D Also on another note, it mentions the country club would receive a smaller siren for coverage, I looked on birds eye and street view on their local golf course, since only thing that came up as "country club", any information on this? I could not find anything.

Another interesting thing I might have to check out soon, This screamer in Hawthorne in 2014 and earlier views show it not well and overgrown, however in 2015 View, which is most up to date, it looks as if repainted and on a new pole, plus no vines and the addition of an antennae as if to activate remotely. I now wonder if this siren was by some miracle re-activated. Any information on this? On opposing note, appears to be no power connected. https://www.google.com/maps/search/fire ... 6656?hl=en

*EDIT* If you remember Hawthorne also has this old Darley Champion. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.5921525 ... 56!6m1!1e1

Have you talked with Adam Pollak? He has a list of pretty much every siren ever installed in Florida (of which there were many, but many were removed in the late 80s and early 90s). He also has quite a large collection at his house in Loxahatchee.
