Here's another great Nashville one:

This one that I recorded today sounds pretty good IMO, especially the wind down:

EDIT: Just found this video of some 2001s in Jackson TN running in attack. Pretty creepy if you ask me!

Honolulu, HI has probably one of the best ambiences ever. A bunch of thunderbolts sounding off. Heres a 3 ambience videos from Reception73 (or Randall) from the 2011 tsunami. I sure do remember this and it was scary. Especially when its very early in the morning.

Brendan W wrote:I have always liked Jeb's HD recording of an 8/12 Allertor going off. The way it sounds, in my opinion, makes it sound like a vintage recording from the '70s, which i think is pretty cool. If I am not mistaken, the siren is the old one from the Olson School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I listen to this recording almost daily. I enjoy hearing the coast down on the 8/12 Allertor. I wish there was a up-close video of these. 1:00 to 1:25 in the recording is my favourite part. & I found the 8/12 Allertor makes a different sounding perfect 5th interval to a Cyclone & P50. Currently the only up close videos of those I seen on YouTube are only the 9/12 Allertors & one of a 10/12 Mobil Directo.

Man those sirens are forever burned in my mind. I remember when I was a kid me and my dad were in Ft. Worth, Texas for a job estimate for his painting business back when they had a fleet of Allertor's. We happened to be there on test day and let me tell you when they went off I didn't know what from what. I had never heard that type of sound before. My dad said it sounds like tornado sirens, and when we were heading back home we passed one after the test was over and we both looked at amazement on how strange they looked. Always reminded me of the cartoon The Snorks lol.

Ah. I wish the Allertors & Mobil Directos were also out here in Australia, but they're not. Only Model 2 or 3 type sirens are out here at the occasional old fire station. & they never sound. Yes the Allertor is definetley in a league of its own when it comes to its appearance. Its design stands out like as if it were saying " hey look at me". Where as other sirens are not as eye catching & discrete to non observant eyes to the non siren enthusiasts unless I am guessing it were a Chrysler siren due to the V8 engine that powers those.

Excuse the bump, but I came across this little treasure not too long ago:

Of course, this isn't mine.

Ahh the famous "bolts&m10" clip. This was recorded in Somerset PA by Steelman Hiles, at 2 am around 2000 when they had their 2 1003s and a since removed Sterling in use as fire sirens. I still have the original recording on a cassette along with a few other gems.
