Vortex R4 - Phenix City, AL

Thu May 04, 2017 11:13 pm

Last week a round of storms blasted through the area causing tornado warnings. Russell County sounded their system off in an awkward fashion. They have a polygon system, but it seemed like either the Vortexes failed to go off at first or the whole system of 2001s activated when the warning was prompted. I decided to go out and see what happened. I'm so used to seeing the Vortexes pointed in the home position, so they caught my eyes quicker than usual. Another thing I found was that they FPU'ed one of the Vortexes downtown. I don't really feel like finding it though, since they only do 7 second blasts for their tests. Anyway here's the test video as well as a video of the warning.

This was before the warning hit Columbus, which is why you don't hear the unintelligible barrage of "Attention, a tornado warning..." at the end.
