Electra TX siren test

Fri Apr 07, 2017 1:53 pm

First Monday siren test for the City of Electra Storm Sirens. Sirens heard are a federal 2001 and a distant federal eclipse. https://youtu.be/s-qsm8hnl4g

Interesting. I'd have thought that the 1003 goes off with these... is it strictly a fire siren?

Last I heard, the 1003 was recently having some timer issues and may be why it wasn't activated for this test. I'm fairly certain that they normally set it off in alert along with the newer system for both tests and warnings, as well as using the wailing high-low "fire" signal for fire calls in the city. I may be wrong on that though.

The still use the 1003 for fire alert. A dispatcher told me though that in the event of a tornado warning the tbolt as well as the others will go off. The 1003 will still do the hi-lo signal. Supposedly the alert mode does not work on it.

I thought it was interesting how far outside of town those Eclipse's are. Sad that they took the SD-10 down too.

I remember that sd-10 years ago. I think it was on Bailey St. By the Jr high school. I have been told that when a storm would come up, they would send someone to the site and have to manually turn it on. Now with the 2001 there it's all radio controlled now.
