A newspaper article online said that there is a total of 4 Civil Defense sirens in Portland and that they are all inactive.

Why don't you call the city or Federal Signal? They should know the reason why. Perhaps maybe you could stop them from doing it.

It really is too bad that they want the thunderbolts to be destroyed.

Yes, there are many Whelen 3016s within 10 miles of Wiscasset, ME as there once was a nuclear power plant there called The Maine Yankee.

But that is only to clear traffic. There are three other air raid sirens in the area, i just don't know where.

I believe you might be thinking about the Model 2 in St Francis, or the Whelen 3016 in Madawaska. I checked the Maine map, and Portland was the only place with a Thunderbolt. There are 3 more sirens in Portland according to an old news article, but they're not listed on the Maine map. Who knows, it ...
