Re: Abandoned Thunderbolt 1003, Alexandria Bay NY

What kind of siren is down the road from this one? (The one that EarAche referred to) It's answered in the post at the top of the thread (with the specific part you'll be looking for bolded by me to make it easier to find): I recently discovered this old 1003 while on a vacation in the town of Alex...

Re: Four Siren Finds In Tennessee

I've known about the Darley in Estill Springs for a few years now personally, though I don't know if I've posted it anywhere before (if I did, it was most likely on Facebook though). Would love to know when it's tested.

5-1-19 Sandra Moon Community Complex Sentry 20v2t Short Alert Test + Ambience

KrMovXRq9pY A few days ago, since I was off from work at the time of the monthly siren test, I decided I'd go and record Jefferson County's test, and then come back up here and record Madison County's test. However, as the weather seemed a bit questionable at best, and due to closing the night befo...

Re: Madison County & Redstone Arsenal, AL Siren History

Sorry for the bump, but the grissom high school siren. Was it ever moved a few feet or did it always have the exact same location for all the type of sirens it had? I'm trying to say was the pole ever reused for each siren? I think the old siren would've been on top of the school, like the one at H...

4-3-19 2001-SRNB Siren Short Alert Test, Trussville, AL

beQ8wTYaKqM Yesterday, while I was out chasing the ATN, I was heading from a crossing in Margaret to a crossing in Alton when I noticed it was getting close to test time as I passed through Trussville. As such, I started recording on my Canon camera to get an ambience when I rounded a bend and saw ...

Re: The 'permanent' CTI thread

I'm not sure how many of y'all are actively following this topic, but I figured I would share an interesting observation that someone in the Facebook group pointed out. In 2004, this omni-directional model was introduced. The rounded stator ports bear similarity to contemporary Federal and ASC fare...

Re: One Of Knoxville's Thunderbolts Still Work??...

Thunderbolt's horns are designed to rotate if a strong enough wind-gust blows them. And seeing as it's only ever faced two directions on street view, that's likely what's happened.

Wow, I didn't even know Gordonsville has a siren that does a noon blast. Will have to check it out the next time I'm up that way.
