Re: If you could build your own siren system for your city, what would you use?

Out of sirens available today for the county I live in I would have to go with Federal 508s and Eclipse 8s as gap fillers. If it was ASC I would choose T-135s with T-121s as gap fillers. If it was Whelen it would be Vortex R4s with OA5s as gap fillers. If it was Sentry then it would 16V1T-B with 7V8...

The Model 2's are active, however I don't know what they go off for.
Have you contacted the county EMA? They might have some knowledge
Not yet, and I don't want to as they will most likely have no knowledge on the sirens.

Re: Mapping St Louis County WPS-3000s

Keep in mind in 2003 there were 3016s, 4003s, various Thunderbolts, a few 2t22s, and some 2000rs.

Re: What Happened to Jefferson City's Penetrators?

The most likely outcome was they were stripped of the copper wiring and scrapped. There was a 2t22 on the west end of the city on the north side of US 50 near the mall in addition to the P-15s. I doubt that the old sirens were repurposed elsewhere. It was an old system and although it served well it...

Re: Where there any Whelen Sirens in different colours other than Black and White?

St Louis County MO used to have a system with many 3016s and 400Rs that were civil defense yellow to match the older Thunderbolts and 2t22s in their system. All are now replaced by 29xxs.

Re: Advice For Newer Enthusiasts?

I was able to find a lot of sirens and hear tests and warnings sounding due to the nature of my job as a truck driver. Found a lot in SE KS and across MO and some in Illinois. I'd always look at city halls, fire stations and police departments. Found a lot using that method. Spread out from there an...

Re: Pierce County at it again...

It was probably a case of state and/or federal dollars being available to upgrade the system to a uniform system with voice capabilities.
