I can't find anything here. I suspect that it got thrown away. The last Giant Voice equipment I saw was years ago when we had a storage room at the old Council School.
The siren for Riverton Intermediate was put up in the early to mid 2000s. Same for Riverton Elementary. The 20V1T is a spare that will be the first one used when a new site is installed or a siren is beyond repair and needs to be replaced. We couldn't afford to replace working sirens for historical ...
Just your standard Madison County test with a 30 second alert cycle, until you get to the wind down that is. Ain't never seen a 2001 do that before. The test sequence is now 30 seconds sound with 30 seconds silent rotate on the 2001's. The Sentry's, Model 2T's and Thunderbeams don't do this because...
How well does that automatic activation work? Does it activate the sirens in a timely manner? It happened fairly fast after the warning was actually issued. We typically get a "heads up" from the NWS on the radio that they are going with a warning, then a few seconds later it is entered i...
That was our first day of "automatic" activation. The computer displayed the polygon, popped up a window with the siren sites it was sounding, then proceeded with a NWS warning activation for the warning on the Ardmore storm and then again for the 2 polygons on that southern storm that had...
Any old Huntsville Times News articles or photos would be great to see. I have an old Huntsville Times article from the early 90's. I'll scan it and post it later this week. Here you go....from the scrapbook files: http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr304/Officer512/GV6.png http://i494.photobucket....
This was taken today in northern Madison County, AL just north of the city of Huntsville, Alabama. The Sentry 20V2T is 3/4 mile away and has houses and trees in between. There are 3 Federal 2001's in various directions to the right of the camera.
We have a Huntsville Times photo somewhere in a scrap book of people installing the Giant Voice speakers (or at least showing them off) on the Clinton Building or the Times building. I haven't seen it in years, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
