Re: ACA Hurricane 130 siren

Here's something I found on the 2013 satellite image, it has a somewhat similar shape to that of a Hurricane 130 and is also around six feet in length. It could entirely be something else but I guess we'll have to wait and hear from the owners of the lot themselves. Wow, interesting find! You are r...

Re: ACA Hurricane 130 siren

The Baxter, MN Hurricane was rumored to have been spotted on Google Satellite in a local scrap yard according to someone on Discord. I'm not 100% sure if this is true, but it is a rumor after all so it's completely possible that this is just a hoax. I'm the one who found whatever that was. Basicall...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

That's been on the MN siren map for a while but almost nobody knew about it for some reason. I'm 99% sure it's inactive considering the 2001 next to it.

Re: B&N Mobil Directo and ACA Allertor past and present map

Where is the Allertor in Summerfield KS? There's almost no street view coverage there and what they do have is the old blurry kind (as in so crappy I don't even get why they bothered taking it).

Re: B&N Mobil Directo and ACA Allertor past and present map

There missing alot on the map. There may be as many as 100 that have not yet been mapped, Particually in Wisconsin and Iowa. I haven't been able to work on the map much recently since it's the end of the school year for me and I have been really busy. As soon as that's out of the way I'll work on a...

Re: Rare alertronic 5000 photo.

You could also try historicaerials.com, they have aerial imagery of lots of areas that can date back as far as the 40's. It might be helpful in confirming this was the location. The pictures are usually too blurry to make out sirens but it can help determine locations.

Re: AC motor on an early 2001.

No idea if it was true or not but if it was I'd imagine an easy way to tell would be just by how the wind up sounds. With an AC motor the wind up will be noticeably different, it won't be linear unless it's single phase.

Re: ACA Hurricane 130 siren

All remains of Kewaunees ACA Hurricanes are now gone. Just like Davis Besse, Cook, Baxter, Crystal River, Garland, Point Beach and others. Its so sad that a once not so rare gem is extremely hard to find nowadays. The Baxter hurricane was an unusual exception because it was only replaced after it &...

Re: Soundmaster 115 Single Tone Browntown, WI

It's hard to tell by the satellite view, but there is a siren on that pole and might still be the 115. Unfortunately there isn't a date on THAT image, so I'll get back to you on it looking at other satellites. Another Street View courtesy of Bing Maps indicates that on May 27th, 2015 the siren was ...

Re: Soundmaster 115 Single Tone Browntown, WI

Soundmaster only made a couple single tone 115s. They were usually 12 port. The other known example went to some town in Minnesota and was featured in a 2007 news video, highlighting its then-recent failure. I remember seeing Browntown's siren years ago. Great to know what it sounds like. I absolut...
