Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

Doing some work on the cabinet. Had to remove three broken screws out of the control board. Also had to dump out all the leaves and dirt, so I figured the best way was to just tip it face first into the ground... Not the best but it works! Apparently these steel cabinets have the battery cabin...

Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

Apparently the Carson-recommended equivalent First off, best of luck. Looking beautiful. This made me wonder: did Carson make everything for ACA's electronics in the early days? Curious what, if anything, ACA did in house with the electronic components. Thank you! My guess is Carson did, but I'd ha...

Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

When I originally bought the Alertronic amplifiers from WSS, I didn't expect them all to work. I would be right about that as amplifier "A4" had a dead short somewhere in the circuit. After talking with Tyler about it, he suggested testing and replacing the old CP2742 transistors with new ...

Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

How is the Alertronic rare? Is it because of it because of where it was located, how it was produced, or how it oscillates? Even though I've loved sirens my whole life, I still don't understand some of this stuff... It's the only 6000R known to have an oscillating rotation system. I don't think any...

Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

Forget the 6000. That's a mighty rare varient of the 4000 there it seems. Looks like one of the ones that's essentially 4 DSA style arrays mounted on what we would consider to be a "normal" Alertronic structure. I've only ever seen those in the ad below (and even then I didn't know they a...

Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

It's been a long while since I've posted any updates on the 6000R. In the past few months, I haven't really gotten much done until recently. However, there are a few things I did fix and receive for parts for the project. A few weeks after picking up the siren, I was given the control board for this...

Re: 1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

Thank you all for the best wishes and words of encouragement, I really appreciate it! I've been doing a little bit of work already, primarily on the rotator system. As stated in my first post, the rotator motor was nonfunctional... This however wasn't the case. This model is an oscillating model tha...

1986 ACA Alertronic 6000R

Hello, everyone. Recently, my dad and I went on a short trip up to Rhinelander, Wisconsin, in hopes of acquiring the old ACA Alertronic 6000R. With several bags full of tools, we managed to get it disassembled and carried out of the woods in roughly two and a half hours. It's a bit more rough than w...

Re: Restoring one of Milwaukee's Gasoline Mobil Directos!

How long dues one tank of fuel last? Not sure. I probably have used a half gallon for the past few times I've run it. The tank holds 5, I've got about 2 gals in it right now. 110 octane isn't cheap, that's for sure Fuel consumption of a VF4 according to an old Wisconsin Motors average fuel consumpt...
