Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Yeah, I’ve seen that article before, and other locals probably have as well. That severe weather outbreak is what really pushed the need for more sirens as well as replacing old ones without battery backup. Several suburbs went ahead and did it themselves within the 10 years after this happened, but...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I just posted this in the media section. Very entertaining if you can set aside one hour to watch the whole video!

Tour of Remaining Old Sirens in Hamilton County, Ohio

Over an hour long, but here is a great video put together by Matt Braun (aka thefandude21 on YouTube) where he drives around all of Hamilton County taking videos and talking about all of the different old sirens that remain standing in Hamilton County. He has never been a member of this forum, but I...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

That’s most likely the case. All sirens I drove by today didn’t change positions. The current EMA staff are great about keeping the sirens maintained, typically not waiting until there’s a problem to service them.

Sorry about all of the consecutive posts, but here is a story about Middletown activating their sirens yesterday after unconfirmed reports of a tornado:

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

As I had mentioned one other time in this thread, this school year is the final year Whitaker Elementary is in operation (as well as Brent, Finneytown's other elementary school) before the new Finneytown Elementary School opens this fall. While Brent is going to be converted to the new district offi...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Not sure if anyone was aware, but Clermont County’s system malfunctioned for the test today, due to a lightning strike. A retest will take place at noon tomorrow. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/clermont-county-siren-system-malfunctioned-during-test-wednesday?fbclid=IwAR1n5j4nmDHRH6Dz29jQCEyMoF...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Yeah I asked him about that one as well when I had a list of siren locations within the city limits from 2009, and he pretty much told me the same thing. And yeah, it will be interesting to see what ends up happening to the Tri-County Thunderbolt. Unsurprisingly, Hamilton County cancelled the growl ...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Hamilton and Warren Counties have canceled their tests today, due to the rain. Of course Hamilton County now has a growl test scheduled for next Wednesday.
