Re: Nice Sound Sirens

They sound both ungodly and very nice in attack. Here's a video of Austin, MN system. pi6xmF62jKM The closest one to the videographer is about 1500ft I remember this tone from the Minecraft tornado (now localized weather) mod. Due to the tornado's tendancy to take dirt off your world, I lived under...

Re: What is your favorite attack mode?

I prefer slow attack modes, especially 10 seconds on and 10 seconds off.

Re: Hankoku electric [Japanese siren company]

I will admit they have some pretty cool stuff, however, I have tried 6 times to contact them with no response. I guess this is a website where you can look only. How were you trying to contact them? They have some telephone numbers, fax numbers, and an email address on their English site. http://ww...

Hankoku electric [Japanese siren company]

I found a link to a company called Hankoku electric while looking for information about Japanese sirens. They seem to have quite a large selection, including several sirens I previously thought were made by Toshiba. The website is mainly in Japanese, but is easy to navigate, and includes sound clips...

Re: What type of siren could this be?

I always wondered about that one too. I figured it was a model 2, considering how much it sounds like this recording. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukTrWxIURe4 It was used in the song Escape by Metallica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRKwa4vWRdQ , which is from their 1984 album Ride the Lightning...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Here are a few more pictures of Australian rotating sirens. I have no idea where any of them are, though the two smaller pictures came up when I looked up sirene serangan udara on google images, which is Indonesian for air raid siren. Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

That ebay photo isn't from the Netherlands, but from Jakarta, Indonesia, which had once been a Dutch colony (no palm trees in Amsterdam). Since Indonesia probably did not have anyone building sirens during the war, they would have bought them from nearby Australia. Certainly they would not have got...

The thing at the bottom looks an awful lot like a motor, and I'm pretty sure the mesh part on the top is an intake. Can't really be sure though.

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Here is one that appears on the board now and then. This is a WWII-era rotating siren from Australia. There are a few photos of these sirens, including one in Indonesia, but I am unaware that any survive today. Do any of our Australian board members know about these? http://static.awm.gov.au/images...
