Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Sort of off topic, but I found a siren in the Dayton area that I didn't know about tonight. I went up to Springfield for a concert and stopped at the Golden Jersey Inn on US 68 near Yellow Springs for dinner. Just up the road is the small unincorporated area of Hustead, and they have a Model 5 at th...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

The Thompson Road one has been gone for a couple years now I think. I don't remember seeing it last time I was out that way (though I also don't remember how long ago that was...).

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Apparently Hamilton County is participating in the statewide tornado drill this year, so they moved the siren test from this past Wednesday til the 23rd at 9:50am... http://www.hamiltoncountyohioema.org/latest-news/the-outdoor-warning-siren-test-scheduled-for-march-2-2016-has-been-moved-to-march-23-...

Re: The Fire Escape Model 5- Still Active?

I doubt it's still active at all. I don't see any wires going to that pole, and it appears Lawrence has a paid professional fire department now (about 1.2 miles up the road from there): http://www.indianafiretrucks.com/Station.aspx?StationId=936 I can't answer whether it was ever part of the county ...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

I've been doing a virtual hunt in the Erie, PA area as I'm going to be up there for a couple days this summer, and found this weird box with horns in Northwest Harborcreek... Anyone have any idea what it might be? https://goo.gl/maps/z4bCwjz825x

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

According to the EMA's website, signup for Adopt-A-Siren will begin next month... More details here: http://www.hamiltoncountyohioema.org/si ... h-program/

I plan on signing up for this since I live at most half a mile from the local siren and can clearly hear it from my house.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I don't know that the TBolt in Spring Grove Village is still active either. They installed a T-128 not far from there to replace it a few years ago.

Re: 4j's Maps

On your Campbell County map, the 115 in Bellevue isn't on the county's siren list. http://ccnotify.org/index.php/outdoor-warning-system

I had always wondered if that was active since it would likely be drowned out by the 2001 in Dayton.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

There's an EOWS*115 in Bellevue, so it's possible that's the one you heard. https://goo.gl/maps/3TGry8VuqNr

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Maybe now the replaced sirens will finally get removed. (i.e. St. Bernard Elmwood Place Elementary) It's my understanding that it's up to each municipality to remove them, not the county. I'm not sure how many are still standing though. On a related note, does anyone know if the Model 5 on the fire...
