Re: Miscellaneous Siren Photos Thread

While in Denver today, I swung by Station 26 brewing to have a look at this old gal. The 2001 that replaced this unit stands a few blocks to the west. Is it a 1000 or 1000T? Based on the entire rest of the system being dual tone, I'm guessing it's a 1000AT. Denver had some jailbar 1000s as well. He...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I don’t think the old EMA staff members cared that much, but the current people probably care more and might like to clean up this portion of the mess someday. Several other sirens in Hamilton County have been hit by cars, leading to some major equipment being replaced, including the siren head.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Someone commented on my YouTube video of the St. Bart’s Church T-128 that the T-128 at Springdale Rd & Hamilton Ave got taken out by a car over a month ago. Yep, gotta hate all of these ANS street side installs.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Yesterday, Hamilton County apparently did a short maintenance test (likely growl test) of select sirens yesterday at noon. I was out of town yesterday as part of a long weekend, so driving to and from work today, I noticed some sirens in different positions, but one that hadn’t changed. Did others k...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

It's quite possible. Newark had one Thunderbolt along with some Thunderbeams, but I'm not exactly sure when they were installed.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Are the Eclipse 8 and STH 10 the only sirens owned by CVG? It used to be that they had 4 sirens, which were 2 STH-10s and 2 Thunderbeams. One Thunderbeam was on top of Terminal 2, which was supposedly demolished, correct? I’m not sure what happened to the siren. The other Thunderbeam was pole mount...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Matt Braun (thefandude21) took a video of STH-10 next to the cell phone lot at CVG yesterday. Interestingly, it’s still active, even with the new Eclipse 8 on the garage being that close to it.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I saw a post on the Ohio County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office Facebook page that they were conducting a siren test at 7pm today.

Doesn’t Franklin County not have a siren system? At least they didn’t used to and only volunteer fire departments had sirens.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

When Hamilton County stopped the “growl, alert, attack” testing format in 2015, it was a 3-minute alert activation for a few years, then it came to be a 1-2 minute activation so that people would know the difference between a test and emergency. However, some quirks seem to keep some sirens running ...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I’m suspecting that they would draw polygons based more on the path of the storm rather than where the tornado warning covers. It would be good to give others a heads up as well.
