Re: Parker and Midway 4008 in Plano, TX

The one on Jupiter just north of Plano pkwy has already been replaced. Sad to see that happen. Last wednesday i was at our building over on 10th street up on a scissor lift messing with a heater. I was about 20 feet away from a 100hp ingersoll rand nirvana compressor running at 50% load and I'll be ...

Re: Hackjob Horror Stories. Botched siren replacements and repairs

One of the guys with the fire dept sent me that pic before they took it down to return it to normal. There was a hole rusted through the horn also. The well pump motor shaft was welded to the chopper armature shaft somehow. A hole was cut in the chopper cap to do that. I sent them a new horn, choppe...

Re: Hackjob Horror Stories. Botched siren replacements and repairs

What's the purpose of the well pump on that thunderbolt?
The chopper armature and field burned out and they rigged the well pump motor to run the chopper.

Re: Thunderbolt help

I have had a lot of thunderbolts apart and I have never seen anything like that. Is that a tube that this thing is attached to? It sure looks like it in the pic. Is there a screw or bolt down in the bottom of the tube attaching it to the armature shaft? I have no I idea what the purpose of that coul...

Re: Thunderbolt Bearings

When you take your chopper motor apart the numbers will be on the bearings.
I always put what was in there originally. They will be either one of the numbers stormsetter listed.
Thanks for mentioning the spacer stormsetter. I thought I was the only person who would go to the trouble to do that. :)

Re: Yellow & Black Striped Thunderbolt

Wonder what it sounded like?
I imagine it sounded like a 1000 thunderbolt. After all, that's what it was.

Re: My New Toy (formerly Tboltfan no longer owns a T-Bolt)

I got an email back from Federal. They said they do not sell spare parts, Who did you email at federal? They don't sell parts for their thousands of sirens they have out there? That's a new one :\ This page on their site has contact info on it... https://www.fedsig.com/warning-mass-notifications-sy...

Re: My (somewhat) new Thunderbolt 1000T

I have to ask.
Why did you pull out the chopper motor to run it?
It's a lot easier running it in the siren than having it spin around on the floor.

Re: Phase Convertor

Just a note, be careful with static converters. They don't actually convert anything. They essentially are just a start circuit. They will start and run a three phase motor fine but only at about 2/3 it's rated HP I always wondered if it's even 2/3 of rated HP since, like you said, it only starts t...
