Re: Frozen Thunderbeam

The siren is at the radio shop. It has no controls as they will mostly be reused for the sentry. I will check back in on Tuesday. Not sure how we would decide who could get it. I would have to ask the boss.

Re: A pointless siren failure.

You would be surprised at what goes on with sirens. I look out for 128 of them everyday. Electronics fail, breakers fail, computers fail. What runs today has trouble tomorrow. Age and being exposed to temperature fluctuations, as well as lightning. On electronic models, other counties have told me ab...

Frozen Thunderbeam

We have a single phase Thunderbeam that has frozen up and will be replaced with a Sentry 20V2T that is already here. The Thunderbeam will be going to the scrap yard unless some collector needs it. They are big and heavy.

Not sure if we will rebuild it or what at this time. We still have 4 locations that use Model 2s, so a spare might be a good idea.

Madison County, AL 2 new sirens (20V2t)

Madison County, Alabama installed 2 new Sentry 20V2T sirens recently. One was on Keel Mountain and the other at Maysville Church of Christ. The old model 2T at Central Volunteer Fire was disconnected. Maysville: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ct_rtkmpp_wjve8ZdHhx3YErOog5O0OjiaNka6F39AiKMjPZNWPGVZ...

Re: Low mounted Thunderbolt and smaller siren (Sterling?) - Arthur, NE

This has been shared before in the "Post your Mystery Sirens Here" thread(?). It is a Federal Model B Strangely enough, I was looking at the least populated counties in the US and went into street view and just happened upon this image. I didn't realize it had been shared before. Sorry.

Re: Altec Lancing Giant Voice Warning System Information

I did find the monthly test records for the Altec system from 1990 - 1996. It looks like all remaining sites were in service April 1996 and then only Fire Station 9 on Hickory Hill Dr. was still in service for the May 1996 test just one month later. The other sites were crossed out and "decommi...
