Re: UK Siren Map

I found another one. This one's another klaxon electronic but it was mechanical at one point. 54.570304, -0.897330 As far as I know it's for flooding but I don't know anything other than that I think you must be thinking of the one in portland. This one's in skinningrove, however it is also for flo...

Re: UK Siren Map

Right- most of the locations have been added to the map, but the Plymouth dockyard system is proving a tough nut to crack- I really do dislike mapping dockyards and the like because they're not in grids, the sirens are the same colour as the buildings et cetera ad nauseum. Portsmouth took a good to ...

Re: Gray alert & single tone sirens.

ACA, in their promotional tapes, labelled the third signal capability as "local code" and not an explicit purpose, thusly enabling the siren to be used for another things like fire or imminent radiation etc. The damper for the siren in the video seems to be wired up to the motor starter, s...

Re: UK Siren Map

If there was a xt22 it would sound like a generic British siren because of it being on 50hz. It also sounds like on of those tri-tone Gents sirens. Exactly, but if the 'generic british sirens' were being run on 60hz, mabye off of a VFD as Larget said then they would sound like american ones ;) http...

Re: UK Siren Map

Hi! I've been doing some more siren stalking and have successfully found some more NEVER REALLY KNOWN ABOUT CS8s! These are part of the plymouth docks siren. The first one is located at 50.395670, -4.179739 and is on a pole, protected by a cage. The second one is located at 50.387799, -4.179328 and...

Re: UK Siren Map

They're sirens dotted around the dockyard as nuclear submarines are docked and serviced there. It seems to me as if the system is placed around the perimeter of the site as opposed to Portsmouth's which have the sirens installed on some warehouse roofs. Great finds, by the way. I really need to get ...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

It's some old PA speakers with nothing attached. Perhaps railway related?

Re: AC motor on an early 2001.

Fairly sure there isn't space for a Model 5 motor. I was under the asusmption that all AC-only 2001s were DC sirens powered off of an AC-DC rectifier.

Re: Is it possible to run a Federal STL-10 or STH-10 on 120V

You can and it'll work, but it'll be painfully slow, plus it might trip a sensitive breaker if you're unlicky to have one. You'd be better off with a Model 7 because of your electrical situation.
