Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

What is this thing? I found it in Dahlonega, GA while poking around the UNG campus off a tip from the county fire chief, looking for an ES-2000...

Loudoun ES-2000 attack, Big Canoe, GA, 11/02/16

Finally, after over three weeks of business, Internet snafus, and a dash of procrastination...

The final proof to match my aside from last month. And oh, what epic proof it is.

You can find more details in the video description, as per usual.

Enjoy!

An aside about Pickens County, GA

I'm sure this will only interest a few people, but it seems rumors of the demise of the Pickens County, GA siren system back in 2011 were slightly exaggerated...for now. This past Saturday, I briefly visited Public Safety Day here at Big Canoe, and while I was there thought to inquire about the sire...

Re: WPS-2790?

Holy crap. I never saw that coming!

I wonder if there are any others still in the wild. Even 2750s are few and far between these days...

Re: WPS-2790?

I've never seen a single piece of documentation referencing anything more than a 2760, and that box looks like a standard Type III cabinet, or perhaps one of the "II+"s to be found in places like the Surry NPP system...

Re: Three videos - Pendergrass, Sugar Hill and Williamsburg

Strictly speaking, it's not in Pendergrass - but it is the closest town, hence why I used it. This is where it is.

I also have fairly comprehensive coverage of the county system (at least, comprehensive as far as I know) on my statewide Georgia map.

Re: The "Various Sirens" series and others

That's correct! While there are two other "statewide" maps which are quite good at covering the Upstate and have been quite useful for me, neither cover the Midlands and Lowcountry...areas where I do know of some locations. Plus they don't even have all of each other's locations...which is...

Re: The "Various Sirens" series and others

Alright, folks. So...update time. Yesterday, real internet (only DSL, but surprisingly good thus far) finally came to our new house, which means I'm on my beefy desktop and ready to do some hardcore mapping. Lately, there have been some minor updates to the GA map...I've been parceling out DJ2226's ...

(NMV) An unexpected find in Finland

This evening I felt like watching some videos of the Teho-Ulvo (Power-Wail) electronic sirens used in Finland. As I wandered around YouTube, I found something quite unexpected...a WPS-2750 at the historic fortress of Suomenlinna, in Helsinki. It even has a custom tone! I guess the Danes aren't the o...

Re: Three videos - Pendergrass, Sugar Hill and Williamsburg

Man the echo on that Sentry is incredible , especially on the wind-up. You really hear how the two motors are out of sync. Awesome recordings!!! Thanks! I was pretty shocked by how discordant they sounded in the field. I was under the impression the microphones in recordings tended to emphasize the...
