Anyone familiar with Sirens in the State of Maine?

It seems to me like I'm the only siren enthusiast here in this rural state. Does anyone else know anything about this area in regards to sirens? Perhaps this could be another "State Siren Discussion" post. Perhaps some of you could help me out in identifying locations as i am thinking abou...

Re: Naplate Illinois siren that was damaged by tornado to be replaced

I wonder how many lives that siren has saved.

Glad they aren't replacing it with a 2001 or ATI.

Here's a pretty low mounted Model 5 siren at the Seabright Dam in Camden, Maine.

Re: Inquiring about a Smoke Detector(?)

That was quite an interesting story. Imagining such a smoke alarm in a dark room seems pretty uncanny to me as well. Although i'm no fire alarm expert, I'm guessing maybe it was an older model Simplex smoke detector as you said everything else in the building were Simplex branded alarms. What year w...

Re: Abandoned Siren In Saco

Iv'e checked GovLiquidation, and all i have found are some light bars. What i think happened is that the Construction Company who converted the Fire Station into Apartments had taken it. I have bought things in the past from old Gas Stations and Stores that were removed by Construction Contractors, ...

Re: Abandoned Siren In Saco

What I'm wondering is where the siren could've gone, did it get sold online, or did the Maine Yankee take it back as it was originally theirs?

Maybe the construction company who converted the fire station into apartments had taken it.

Re: Abandoned Siren In Saco

Yes, it was a Whelen 3016 speaker. What i am curious about is where it went as the building it was on was a Fire Station that recently was converted into apartments.

Abandoned Siren In Saco

A while ago the Saco Central Fire Station in Saco, Maine was put up for sale. The thing is, on top of the building was a Whelen 3016, which was installed in 2005 and was sold from the Maine Yankee Nuclear Power Plant, who had removed their sirens after their decommissioning. Here you can see where i...
