Re: My Federal Signal Modulator 6048B

Nice find with the drivers! Hopefully they're in working order. Sucks that plastic piece in the upper cell is cracked though.

Re: "Broken" Vortex in Jackson County

Good gust of wind probably knocked it loose, finback too. Not sure how rust affects these sirens, but it is possible the plate where the head attaches to the rotator has potential to fail as they age. i believe it is a steel plate that is powder coated, so definitely has the potential to rust &...

Re: The weirdest sirens ever seen.

I've been working on a map of every known Sterling Siren to have existed for the past 5 or so months, and I have come across many weird things during that time. This, however, is the crown jewel of all oddities and atrocities... Meet Biscoe, North Carolina's ROTATING Model M. https://maps.app.goo.g...

Re: Lucas county's 5 am growl..?

Sounds more like a silent test, I've heard of places doing it in the early morning hours like that before. I guess it wasn't silent enough this time lol IIRC yes, the "silent test" for both Federal signal and ASC is a growl that the controller uses to check if the motor is drawing current...
