Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Hello! I happened to spot this siren on top of the old Key Bank in Clyde, NY, and was curious if anyone could identify it. It almost looks like a FS model 500 DH-TT, but not quite. It has an eyebolt in the middle of it where it was mounted, and an antenna. Could be leftover from the Cold War, and/o...

Re: The 'permanent' CTI thread

I don't think something like a mechanical siren will have a beacon. This 'addon' seemingly common on electronic types.

But is there really a mechanical siren with a beacon on top, other than this?

Re: Plano WPS-4008 Removal Spree

I've never quite understood the concept of replacing an electronic siren just because it's old. A controller upgrade essentially makes an old siren head new again if the old controllers are being a nuisance. 4008s are great sirens and relatively easy to keep running especially since it shares parts...

Re: LRAD may be installed in San Jose

I've actually once thought of an LRAD serving as a 'siren'. Just one question; can it run with something like a legit electronic siren controller (e.g UltraVoice) without a tone generator (Or did the UV has a tone generator built in?)? EDIT : Sorry for misunderstanding. I thought this about a Long R...

Re: Port Ratio?

Port ratios are shortly known as "Ports". Single tone sirens (Sirens with either 1 chopper & stator or 2 C&S (Why not abbreviate Chopper & Stator with this?) that sound the same pitch) also have port ratios. Example, a Federal Signal 2001-130 has 12 Ports. Yeah more ports would...

Re: Siren photos from the Oregon and northern California coast (large photos!)

1. The half-house 'Model 3 is a Model 5/7 indeed, by judging the 'internal siren structure' looking like the one seen on the 5/7, and the fact it seems too large to be a 3. 2. The 'HOR Paint Can' siren seems like an ED Bullard, due to its trapezoidal-looking chopper-stator (As seen from my Nokia sid...

Aww, it'll be great if both sound, isn't it? Anyway, when will the 2001 test?
