The puller is called a harmonic puller, also known as a steering wheel puller. You can get them at pretty much any automotive or farm store. My siren is a three-phase model. The only thing the key is for is to prevent the chopper from free-spinning on the motor shaft. Good luck, and go VERY slow, an...

Yeah! It only cost like $12 too! Now that the chopper is off, I was finally able to get the motor apart and I found that one of the bearing holders had several air bubbles in it causing one edge to crack and break off when the one bearing was being removed. Any ideas about this one guys? I know a fe...

Yes the motor shaft key is the pin we are referring to. I'm going to a farm store in a little bit here to pick up a puller, I already got 2 grade 8 bolts put in the holes so hopefully I'll be able to get it out this afternoon.

Yeah I may try the route of diagonal pliers and leverage from the motor shaft to try to pop it off that way. Its soaking with penetrating oil right now. Is it possible that the 2 holes near the center of the chopper are jacking bolt holes so that you can remove the chopper?

OK thanks, any tips on how to get the pin out? After I do get it out do I just pull on the chopper with a gear puller?

Model 5 help

I just aquired a FS Model 5 and was wondering how to safely remove the chopper without damaging it. Mine is quite old and I don't know if the pressure from a gear puller may snap off a piece of the chopper. Also, there doesn't seem to be a retaining screw to hold the chopper on. Thanks for the help!
