Re: Roster of Sirens in New York City (& Nearby Areas)

This is a great topic, I wondered what NYC might have. I wonder why there's a Noise law prohibiting civil defense sirens? I don't think the city is known for being a very quiet, tranquil place to begin with.

Re: Question about Richland MO EOWS 612s

Oh wow, I didn't even think to compare the dates like that haha. Will keep that in mind for future siren researching! Glad I could be of help there at least! The Missouri Warning Siren Map I refer to usually has these two listed as the only EOWS sirens in the state! Except for the 2000R in Rich Foun...

Re: Question about Richland MO EOWS 612s

Both 612s in Richland, Missouri are SiraTone units. The sirens heard in the video posted are Thunderbolts and Whelens in Richland, Mississippi. I'm so impressed by how good you all are at IDing sirens and locations. I'll have to try some sort of flashcard studying to help my brain connect siren ton...

Re: Question about Richland MO EOWS 612s

Hmm, you're right about the wail double checking it! Ultravoice wail reaches a higher pitch before descending.. hm. I would say it could be the EOWS was retrofitted with Whelen controls? But heck if that isn't a siratone sounding in the background then this is probably a Richland from a totally diff...

Re: Home Built Electronic Siren Test

Hmm, it feels weird that you aren't being paid for this sort of installation. Very cool siren nonetheless! I just think your hard work and effort deserves to be supported more than it seems like it is

Its a former altec lansing horn.
Wow, so not even a siren at all. See, that's what I mean when I say pinterest doesn't have nearly enough information about its uploads. Sometimes it's just downright incorrect. Thanks for informing me!

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Semi relevant to the current discussion, haha. I found this on pinterest, which never really gives enough information about anything shared through it. It says this was formerly an undefined tornado siren, OR a Thunderbolt depending on who uploaded it, that was repurposed into a light fixture. Had t...

Question about Richland MO EOWS 612s

Hi everyone I found a video here showing what's without a doubt a recording of the Richland MO siren system, since 2 distinct EOWS 612s can be heard sounding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLj1GCwXTcU I wanted to see if anyone here was local to the area and could answer some questions for me. See h...

Re: Square Horned STL-10s?

Not to derail the topic, but what was the Lee Ann Peyton RPh? And why would it have a siren? I have been wondering the same myself, it's a pretty mysterious place with little to no information online about it. My friend says he believes it was a privately owned inpatient medical facility, likely fo...
