Re: Wood County, OH siren encoders/controllers

I used to know one of the siren techs that worked on several of the Wood County sirens in the 1970s. He said, they used Federal Siratrol units on 153.890 MHz. However, a few of the departments had Plectron siren controllers as well, which were designed to compete with the Siratrol.

Federal Model 500 Found

While checking for an old railroad line, I came across an older version of a Federal Signal Model 500 in Newberry, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. Its located at the Newberry Water & Light Plant on East. McMillan Street. Looks freshly painted. https://www.google.com/maps/@46.351788,-85.505785,...

Michigan Central Passenger Station Chrysler Siren

While restoring some vintage railroad images, I came across this Kodachrome slide of a New York Central E-8 locomotive backing into the Michigan Central Passenger Station in Detroit, Michigan. I thought I would share this with the group. On top of the station, you can see a yellow Chrysler Air Raid ...

Railroad Yards With Sirens

Here's an interesting photograph that was taken at the Juniata Shops of Norfolk Southern in Altoona, Pennsylvania. You can see a Federal STH-10 on top of the roof. https://www.flickr.com/photos/cesposito2035/15685307106/sizes/k/ This Federal Model #2 was shot at the East Deerfield Yard of the Boston...

Nearby Burlington, located on M-60 has a rare Sterling K-5 at the fire station.

LAFD Station 61

Here is a good shot of old Los Angeles City Fire Station #61, located on the west side of the city. Atop the station is a siren. Sadly, I think it was scrapped when the building was demolished?

I ran across this excellent photograph of the Eddystone, Pennsylvania Town Hall in 1948. You can see two sirens on the roof of the building.

Old Plymouth Siren

Here's a photograph of downtown Plymouth, Michigan, looking south on Main Street. On the pole you can see what looks like a fire siren. I am thinking Federal Electric Company, or Sterling.

Re: EDIT...Found It Anybody have the picture

Like Bullards and Heaths, Hedbergs rarely seemed to make it outside California. The Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where Henry Ford built his B-24 Liberators had two Hedbergs on the roof of the building. Sadly, they were scrapped, a few years ago. I believe the Federal Model 2s and...
