IMHO sirens should be sounded if any storm has winds in excess of 70 mph. If towns happen to have electronic sirens, they could use the "air horn" tone to differentiate it from the alert (or attack) signal used for tornado warnings. 70 mph is EF-0 tornado territory (65 to 85 mph) so why not?

Yeah, I remember seeing it a while ago.
It reminds me of the Cabot, AR High School thunderbolt video. Maybe it is? Maybe Flyonby13 can comment... He was from the Cabot, AR area.

With all that being said, how feasible would it be to substitute a smaller blower, like one rated half of the T-bolt blower, along with a motor... something like a 3 1/2 HP single phase that consumes less amperage? I guess if push came to shove, you can obtain the vacuum pumps that power the "s...

Nice pics of the ATI bullhorns. Note the vents on the backside of the bullhorns... my guess is to keep the voice coils cooler when they are operating.

At least the 2T22 made a cameo appearance! And I agree with you, jasonC!
Oh, and since this thread has a storm chase theme to it, how many of you have heard of Mike Hollingshead (extreme instability)?. Some of his chases has sirens in them too (the 2003 Nebraska chases in particular).

It looks like a horn that mates to a ribbon tweeter. I'm used to seeing round throats that mate up to compression drivers but not like this one.
Perhaps James B Lansing toyed with the idea of ribbon drivers before using round compression type drivers, or just wanted to try something different.

Well done on that restoration! It looks like it just come off the assembly line, probably with a higher attention to detail! :D
The black standpipe really makes it stand out.
What do the neighbours think? ;)

It's definitely an 8/12 ratio. It sounds like a very slow ACA/ASC Cyclone or P50.

It sounds like a cross between an 8 port Allertor and a Sentry.
