Re: Nebraska Statewide Map

The Whelen sirens on Offut AFB have been replaced with SiRcom sirens. The two 2805s and the 2806 located outside the base were replaced directly with SPT-2108s. The three 2806s on Post were replaced with I believe SPT-2116s. These are to my knowledge the first non-MadahCom/Cooper branded SiRcom sire...

Re: Port Ratio -> Sound Frequency

To put Some_3t22s' in a mathematical equation it would be RPM * port / 60. Most 2T22s do 3450 RPM so 3450*10/60 = 575 Hz and 3450*12/60 = 690 Hz. For those that want to create a tone generator and take the digital route, I'd recommend an Arduino. I've implemented a full-fledge tone generator on an A...

Re: Trojan WS-3000

I'll have to take a peek at my drivers. the amps are rated at 400w a piece, but they may well have only used 80w drivers, and the manual reflects this, only having 320 watts of sound output instead of 400 like the amps. this would mean the siren's total output is only 1,280 watts instead of 1600. i...

Re: Every ESC-3000 In Existence

I don't think Whelen ever dubbed these controllers as the ESC-3000. Actually, the model isn't listed on the front panels for the sirens. As far as other systems with this particular logic board here's a few off the top of my head: Seabrook: WS-3000s, upgraded to ESC-2020s St. Louis County: WS-3000s ...

Darn, I never knew they offered the smaller of the single rotors in 8/12! Cool vid!
This siren was produced back when they made the Allertor and gave it an option for 8/12. I think these might actually predate the Cyclone and P-50.

Re: 3rd Remaining Dane County CD Siren?

The siren was replaced by a 508 at the park. If I'd have to guess they just left it in place since the replacement wasn't direct. If I'm not mistaken most of the other replacements that they've done with directly done with the installation crew reusing the existing poles of the sirens being replaced.

Re: Little Rock WAVES

They apparently upgraded them with ASC controls within the last few years. You can tell something changed because the WiFi antennas that the sirens came with were removed. These WAVES HPSA-3108s, and they originally had TRX-401 IP radios installed inside the cabinets. Eaton dropped support for those...

Re: Siren Question

Each Whelen siren uses the same controller as its contemporary mainline brethren. The 404R/OA/Vortex series use an entirely different amplifier from the mainline series Whelens. Its an amp that amplifies tones well but is not adequate for voice reproduction. As was noted above, the Vortex does not ...

SFU: "Voice Only" 2810 - Columbus, GA

Hey everyone. Over the past couple of years, I've slowed down the rate at which I record sirens in Columbus. Usually, when I do it now it's to document any system failures I happen to come across or anything new that pops up in the system such as our two new WPS-2910s that replaced the 2810s that we...
