Re: single tone allertors

From what I’m told, those 2 “Allertors” in Hoffman Estates were actually P-15s with Allertor shrouds. I believe Charlie Davidson owns one of them now. I have heard rumors that there was a single-tone 12-port Allertor offered at one time too, but I’ve seen no evidence of it. The only single-tone Alle...

Re: Discoveries in Charleston, WV

Hey there! I'm also a West Virginian! Nice post! Growing up around so many volunteer fire departments with their house sirens, I've always associated sirens with rural life. I grew up exactly three miles away (as the crow flies) from a Sentry 10V that I could hear in the distance . I can hear a Mod...

Could this be a FedelSTH in Marshall, VA?

Been driving by this siren for many years since it's not far from where I live, but it's been inactive for a long time so I haven't heard it in years. Anyway, it's a cow-spotted Fedelcode Model X mounted on what appears to be an STH-10 intake, and you don't usually hear about an old Model X replacin...

Re: Every STH-10 in the US!

This map is awesome! There's only ONE I know of that I don't see on the map, and that's Whitney Point, NY. Thank you! STHs are my favorite! I'll add that one to the map right now. Haven't worked on it in awhile so I should get back at it. Let me know of any other ones please. You're welcome! Just d...

Been by the Slanesville siren many times. One time when I went by it was taken down, then the next time it was back up but didn't have the hood on it. And then it had the hood and has had it ever since. Perhaps it was the hood of an old siren? Very interesting, never really thought about it too much.

Re: Every STH-10 in the US!

I have an STH-10 map as well and you can take locations from it. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1E7LxzuMPjUThoN_xeTpGepfx1PtyhzGe&ll=40.54953663586777%2C-77.9938712&z=8 This map is awesome! There's only ONE I know of that I don't see on the map, and that's Whitney Point, NY. Thank y...

Re: What is your favorite port combination on a siren?

I’d say 9/12. Sounds so creepy and apocalyptic, and sends chills down your spine.

Re: Post Your Siren Maps Here!

I have made a siren map of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia (and vicinity, since there's some cool rare sirens right across the state line). It would be awesome to expand it to the whole state, so if there's any other West Virginians here, let me know! I used the same color coding as the Penn...

Re: Post Your Siren Maps Here!

Nice map! I have some info for you: there is a red Model 5/7 on top of the old Springfield FD in town (now a garage I think), and there is an Eclipse 8 on the hill above the Romney FD, although it may have been moved because it was subject to a lot of complaints and even legal action from the neighb...

Re: In your opinion, what is the best mounting of sirens?

I always appreciate seeing things with a neat visual impact, unusual mounting methods like water tower, cupola and even dual pole mounts or tower-like mounts. That is sheerly from an aesthetic point of view. I imagine pole mounting to be the most efficient and effective option, as far as ease, cost...
