Low-Toned Siratone 612s

I found this video yesterday afternoon. At first I thought it was another bad attempt at playing a synthesized TBolt siren over a storm video but after playing it for a while and looking up the sirens in Bemidji, MN, I believe these are indeed the real thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rESVZiD6zKA

It looks like the P-50 has just been replaced. I wonder if it's with a 508 since Joplin has an all Federal system and it's the only thing Federal has that even comes close to the P-50.

By the way, these replaced a system of Whelen Vortexes (with the fin) and SD-10s.

I think most of Wichita's/Sedgewick County's 2001s are AC only including the one in the video. They seem to only have a handful that have a battery cabinet.

The picture is now up along with the data sheet and manual. http://www.alertnotification.com/508siren_9563.aspx One thing I noted in the manual in the drawings is that it says "assemble horn with drain hold in down position." So it looks like water collecting in the intake cone shouldn't b...

Most Maintenance-Friendly Siren

So I've been wondering for quite some time about the cost of maintaining a siren system. Here's a quote from Clayt Werden from a while back in the Hamilton County Siren Thread... "The old sirens are costly to maintain" WOW wait till the new ones go in. Now each community pays for their rep...

At the time the tornado struck, Joplin had a system of mostly 2001s and an RSH10 or two lingering. One is at a MSSU and was captured winding down from the first warning cycle in this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjMnvmja5BA The other was located directly across the street from where the f...

I think some of the concern may be that with an ATI activation and control platform, Dane County may be more inclined to install ATI warning devices.
